Delano Regional Medical Center presented the honored 2014 Employee of the Year Award to Lucy Zarate, R.N. The announcement was made at a recent employee celebration and comments from several employee nominations were given.
Ms. Zarate is known for her compassion and vision to provide quality care to every patient with exceptional customer service. Lucy contributes much of her time to the community and working with individuals. She treats each person like family and is very engaged with their needs.
As a new leader within the hospital, Ms. Zarate is an excellent motivator of staff, enabling them to excel as well as help staff to discover their own talents and wisdom.
Ms. Zarate holds the position of Director of the Rural Health Clinics. She has been a strong part of the DRMC family for a combined 19 years serving patients in her roles as manager of ICU, nurse educator and overseeing the Diabetic Clinic.
For nine years, Ms. Zarate continued her passion for nursing at nearby hospital where she served in the capacity of emergency department before returning to DRMC. “With her clinical expertise, knowledge of our community and the population, and involvement with volunteer health agencies in Kern County, her contributions to the health and wellbeing of the communities served by the hospital is truly an asset for the hospital and Delano,” stated Bahram Ghaffari, hospital President.
