Delano Regional Medical Center and Delano Family Pharmacy are proud to host a free community farmers’ market and resource fair for Delano and surrounding communities. In partnership with Community Action Partnership of Kern County (CAPK) – DRMC is working to promote a healthier community, all while encouraging education, nutritional information, as well as guidance for a healthier community and more thriving population.

With an overall community obesity rate of over 30%, DRMC is taking an initiative. DRMC and Delano Family Pharmacy will also be offering free health screenings; consisting of Glucose testing, Blood Pressure checks , Cholesterol, BMI testing and A1C testing. The A1C test specifically measures the percentage of blood sugar in the body, and can identify pre-diabetes in an individual.

The Free Community Farmers Market and Resource Fair will take place on Thursday June 21st from 3:00 -7 PM in the main parking lot of Delano Regional Medical Center. The event and produce is completely free to the community. Community partnerships for this event consist of The Delano Chamber of Commerce, CAPK, Central Valley Farmworkers Foundation, The Delano Union Elementary School District, and Kern Family Healthcare.

The last community farmers’ market held in May, provided free fruits and vegetables for over 400 Delano area families.
