Job Description:
Organizes and performs the daily activities of the area(s) to which assigned. The areas may be Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology, Serology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, P.M. Shift, or Night shifts. Ensures that the organizing of daily activities and the validity of the test results and quality control are completed for the specific sections(s) to which he/she is assigned. When performing laboratory tests, is responsible for the assessment, and appropriateness of tests to the ages of patients served. As the LIS coordinator provides leadership, supervision, and coaching of the clincial lab scientists and lab staff creatively, facilitating change, barrier removal to achieve training , inservice and competency in the lab computer system Meditech, and powerchart,and department goals. Maintain and monitor new test procedures in the Meditech and Powerchart systems, working alongside the Information system department to accomplish goals. Assists in training new laboratory staff in lab information systems. Bachelor of Science degree (BS) from four (4) year college or university, and minimum of one (1) year related experience and /or training. Clinical Lab Scientist license, State of California.
