Low Cost Meals for Senior Citizens

Every afternoon, area senior citizens gather in the cafeteria at Delano Regional Medical Center for a delicious, nutritious meal.   For more than 20 years, DRMC has provided a special discounted senior’s menu in an effort to benefit the health and well being of the surrounding community.

The Senior Meal Program is available seven days per week, between the hours of 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, to persons at least 55 years of age.  Participants are welcome to eat at the hospital for only $2, or for a small additional charge, meals can be packaged “to go”.

There are some extra benefits to the program.  During the hot summer months, the hospital not only provides a cool environment for seniors to enjoy dinner but also a place to congregate with friends. “Participants are welcome to bring playing cards, dominos, checkers or other games to enjoy after eating” stated Wanda Boren, Director of Nutritional Services.

The hospital cafeteria is also open to the general public on a daily basis.  Breakfast is served between 6:45 & 8:30 am, Lunch is from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm, and Dinner is served from 4:00 until 7:00pm.
